Ajay Ratra replaces Salil Ankola in senior men's selection panel

Ajay Ratra, the previous India wicketkeeper, has been named as the fifth selector in the Ajit Agarkar-drove India men's selection panel. Ratra was one of four applicants, close by Reetinder Singh Sodhi, Shakti Singh and Ajay Mehra, to be consulted for the post by the BCCI's cricket advisory group. Ratra replaces Salil Ankola, the previous India quick bowler, to finish a cycle that had started in January this year when the BCCI welcomed applications for the position. The season-opening Duleep Prize will be Ratra's most memorable task. The north zone position had been empty since Chetan Sharma authoritatively surrendered as executive in February 2023, in the wake of being trapped in a secret television sting activity. Agarkar's ensuing command implied Ankola, who had previously been Mumbai's central selector, was the logical contender to clear a path, despite the fact that the BCCI's promotion at the time made no notice. Ratra, who played six Tests and 12 ODIs in 2002, accompanies a rich collection of work in the training circle. He's been involved as a lead trainer with Assam, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, and was most-as of late piece of VVS Laxman's break instructing staff for the ODI series in South Africa before the end of last year, not long after the 50-over World Cup. Ratra had likewise been engaged with different training programs for the ladies' senior and junior groups. In 2021, he was important for Ricky Ponting's training staff, as one of the associate mentors, at Delhi Capitals.
