Women's T20 league set to return in Andhra Pradesh with Mithali Raj as convenor

Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has decided to revive the IPL-style league for women cricketers. On Sunday, June 8, at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Vijayawada, this was one of the decisions made. The association had previously organised a three-team league for women cricketers, known as the Andhra Women's T20 League, which was discontinued last year. The league will be held independently of the six-team Andhra Premier League for men this time around, with four teams participating. However, going forward, it plans to hold the men's and women's leagues simultaneously at the same venue, for logistical and operational convenience. Both leagues will be held in August. The women's league will initially be run by the ACA itself, but franchises will be introduced in the future to privatize it. "The decision is a testimony of ACA's focus for women's cricket in the state. An ACA official stated, "Our president Kesineni Sivanath, a Lok Sabha member from Vijayawada, and secretary S Satish, a member of the Rajya Sabha, are clear about their vision for women's cricket." The state's coordinator of women's cricket is Mithali Raj, a former India women's captain. In the coming days, the ACA will establish a women's committee to investigate women's cricket activities. It will also have a selection committee consisting of only women members.
