Laura Harris Blitz Helps Warwickshire Crush Somerset in Vitality Blast Laura Harris continued her sensational start in Warwickshire colours with another explosive innings, hammering 77 off 34 balls to power Warwickshire to a 69-run victory over Somerset in the Vitality Blast at Edgbaston. Coming in at 54 for 4, Harris transformed the innings with a whirlwind knock that featured nine fours and four sixes, propelling Warwickshire to 172 for 9. Her onslaught overshadowed a strong opening burst from Somerset’s Mollie Robbins, who took 3 wickets in her first 10 balls and finished with 3 for 24. Somerset’s chase faltered early and never recovered, folding for 103. Despite a solid 31 from Fran Wilson, they were undone by Warwickshire’s spin duo of Georgia Davis (3 for 12) and Millie Taylor (3 for 13). Harris' second ball went for six and she raced to her half-century in 19 balls, just a week after a 16-ball fifty on debut. Warwickshire’s innings had earlier wobbled at 30 for 3, before Sterre Kalis (32) and Natasha Wraith offered brief resistance. Kalis’ innings ended cruelly via a backing-up run-out, but Harris’ dominance against spin justified her move down the order. Somerset’s reply never got going. Rebecca Odgers fell lbw early, and though A.C. Munday briefly countered with a six, Davis and Taylor ripped through the middle order. Injuries compounded their woes as Emma Corney was stretchered off the field with a leg injury during the first innings and did not bat. With three defeats in a row and injury setbacks, Somerset’s campaign is now under serious pressure.
