SLC hire R Sridhar for a 10-day stint

Sri Lanka Cricket has brought on board former India fielding coach R Sridhar for a short-term engagement aimed at boosting fielding performance across all levels of Sri Lankan cricket. His 10-day training programme, starting May 7, will span senior men's and women's squads, the U19 team, Emerging players, Premier Club cricketers, and the Women’s 'A' team. “Sridhar will spearhead an intensive 10-day fielding initiative designed to sharpen the skills and on-field agility of Sri Lankan cricketers,” stated SLC. The programme will start with the senior men's national team and gradually include other squads. It features hands-on fielding drills, scenario-based training, and skill development under real-match conditions. Sridhar, 54, holds a Level 3 coaching certification from the BCCI and served as India’s fielding coach from 2014 to 2021, working across more than 300 international games. He’s also contributed to various IPL teams and recently collaborated with the Afghanistan Cricket Board. Once a left-arm spinner for Hyderabad in 35 first-class games, Sridhar has worked alongside coaching heavyweights like Ravi Shastri and Anil Kumble. In Sri Lanka, he will partner with Sanath Jayasuriya and liaise with coaches at all tiers, including National and High Performance setups. With a packed calendar ahead—including white-ball series and a two-Test showdown against Bangladesh in June—Sri Lanka is ramping up preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup.
