The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has not officially extended the extra time allowance for league matches to 120 minutes. According to the IPL's official playing conditions, league-stage matches are permitted up to 60 minutes of extra time to accommodate delays caused by weather or other interruptions. In contrast, playoff matches have a provision for up to 120 minutes of extra time. PBKS earlier defeated RCB in a shortened game, while Gujarat Titans (GT) came up trumps against Mumbai Indians (MI) in a match that saw multiple stoppages. So far in IPL 2025, three matches have been abandoned due to rain, with teams sharing points, while two other games have been shortened due to the weather. This clarification comes amid a season notably affected by weather disruptions. For instance, the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was abandoned due to rain, impacting playoff qualifications. Additionally, the RCB vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) match, originally scheduled in Bengaluru, was relocated to Lucknow to avoid further rain-related interruptions.
