Mustafizur picked in Bangladesh A team with an eye on international return

Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Saturday that they have included pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman in the 15-member squad of Bangladesh A for the opening two one-day matches against New Zealand A as they want to prepare him for international fixtures. Mustafizur returned to competitive cricketfollowing rest after he was administered a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection on March 12, a treatment that involves injecting a concentrated amount of a patient's own platelets into an injury or problem area to stimulate healing and reduce inflammation, potentially speeding up tissue repair and decreasing pain. After Mohammedan Sporting Club selected Mustafizur to play for them in the super league phase, the country's traditional List A tournament, the Dhaka Premier League, Mustafizur resumed playing competitive cricket. Mustafizur has taken five wickets in three DPL matches thus far. "Mustafizur was absent from cricket for some time. So we brought him into the A team to make him ready for the upcoming international fixture," BCB chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain told Cricbuzz on Saturday. There are both seasoned campaigners and newcomers on the team. Alongside Mustafizur, senior players like Anamul Haque Bijoy, Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat have been included. He stated, "We are expecting the series to be highly competitive, and we have also brought some seasoned campaigners like Mossadek and Sohan just to make sure that they are not out of our radar." He added, "We are expecting the series to be highly competitive." Cricbuzz understands that given his experience and seniority, Nurul Hasan Sohan is likely to lead the team, but BCB did not name him when they announced the squad. New Zealand A are set to arrive in Bangladesh on 1 May for a tour comprising three one-day matches and two four-day games. Sylhet and Dhaka will be the locations of all matches. The one-day series will kick off on May 5 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS), with the second and third matches scheduled on May 7 and 10, respectively. After the limited-overs fixtures, the teams will switch to red-ball cricket, with the first four-day match set for May 14-17 in Sylhet. The series' concluding last four-day match is scheduled at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 21-24.
