Left-gave player Kyle Mayers has been formally endorsed as the substitution for the harmed Brandon Lord in the West Indies 2024 T20 World Cup crew, the ICC said in a proclamation on Friday (June 21). Mayers, who has played 37 T20Is, was named as a substitution after Ruler was governed out of the rest of the competition because of a side strain. Ruler experienced the injury while batting against Britain on Wednesday (June 19) and needed to resign out on 23. West Indies lost the game by 8 wickets. Mayers is supposed to join the crew on Saturday, in front of the hosts' last Super 8s game against South Africa on June 23. West Indies next Super 8s installation is against co-has USA, on Friday (June 21)
