Mandhana returns to No 1 in ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings

Smriti Mandhana, an Indian opener, has returned to the top of the ICC's ODI batting rankings for women. Mandhana is at the top for the first time since 2019 (727 rating points). Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa (717) fell 17 rating points to tie for second place with Nat Sciver-Brunt of England. Mandhana had scored 51 against South Africa at the beginning of May and 116 in the tri-series final against hosts Sri Lanka, his last two ODI appearances. In her five ODI appearances in 2025, Wolvaardt has averaged 28.20 and reached a high score of 43. In the first two ODIs of the ongoing series against West Indies, she scored 27 and 28 runs. Ellyse Perry, an all-rounder from Australia, and England's Amy Jones complete the top five. Mandhana is the lone Indian in the top ten, with Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur on 15th and 16th respectively. The England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone remained at the top of the ODI bowling charts, well ahead of Australia's Ashleigh Gardner and Megan Schutt. However, West Indies spinner Afy Fletcher rose four spots to 19th after scoring four wickets in the second one-day international against South Africa. There were no changes in the ODI allrounders' top ten either. Gardner leads the list, with West Indies' Hayley Matthews at No. 2 and South Africa's Marizanne Kapp at No. 3. New Zealand's Sophie Devine, who announced her decision to retire from ODIs after the World Cup in September to be hosted by India, is ninth among allrounders and 13th among batters.
