Lahore Qalandars owner slams PCB for 'pathetic' handling of Haris Rauf decision
Lahore Qalandars' owner Sameen Rana has castigated the PCB for announcing its decision to tear up Haris Rauf's central contract just two days before the start of the PSL, tagging the board's handling of the situation as "pathetic". Speaking to Cricket, Rana said he did not wish to get into whether the decision was correct but its timing severely disrupted his side's PSL campaign, and the way the information was passed on to the player amounted to "really poor management".
"The planning of that declaration was completely superfluous," Rana told ESPNcricinfo. "There was no Pakistan series coming up, or any crisis circumstance that required the declaration two days before the PSL. Anything that the rationale was, the timing was downright terrible. It was a tremendous blow mentally for him, since his entire life's fundamental point is playing for Pakistan.
Qalandars were perceived to be secretly raging at the time the choice was declared. Shaheen Afridi told ESPNcricinfo upon the arrival of the choice that the PCB would "figure out in time" that settling on the choice not long before the PSL began was not right. However, while Qalandars kept away from communicating public shock at that point, presently, Rana has not.
"Rauf's our chief bowler, our most noteworthy wicket-taker after Shaheen Afridi. To openly embarrass him and issue a public statement reporting the end of his focal agreement, I have never witnessed this anyplace," Rana said. "I could never deal with my workers like that.
"The representative basically has the appropriate for you to call, email or message them. No part of that occurred with Rauf, and it was regrettable. It was truly unfortunate administration."
The choice came two months after Rauf made himself inaccessible for Pakistan's three Test series in Australia; at that point, boss selector Wahab Riaz had freely condemned Rauf, saying he had backpedaled on his promise. Wahab said Rauf's choice would hurt Pakistan, and that his focal agreement commanded him to be accessible. Pakistan proceeded to lose the Australia series 3-0.
While disciplinary procedures against Rauf were not unveiled, the PCB gave an assertion on February 15 that Rauf's reactions in an individual hearing were unacceptable, and that the board was ending his focal agreement. Furthermore, it would keep him from playing any abroad T20 association till June 30 2024.
The advancement put title-safeguards Qalandars "on the less than desirable end", Rana said. Their 2024 mission has gone from terrible to more regrettable as injury, inaccessibility, and unconcerned exhibitions have seen them attached to the lower part of the table, winless in their initial seven games.
Rauf, who was looking for structure before the PSL, started inadequately, yet had his greatest day against Karachi Lords, taking 1 for 22 out of four overs, yet even that couldn't keep Qalandars from slipping to a last ball, two-wicket rout; and Rauf harmed himself in that nearby completion. He disjoined his shoulder while jumping to take a catch off the penultimate conveyance of the game, and the injury is supposed to save him down and out for around a month and a half.
"I don't have any idea what the PCB was thinking; I was in a bad way. Haris was our head quick bowler. Assuming somebody deals with you like that, you can't imagine it doesn't influence you," Rana said. "Particularly when it's your country, something you're personal about in any case. Furthermore, particularly Haris, who is a normally close to home individual.
"It was an extra obligation in me and the entire group to continue rousing him, and keeping him in the right attitude. He is an extremely impressive kid, however once more, a negative idea can crawl into your mind. Yet, tragically, after he was by all accounts getting back to frame and performed splendidly, he got harmed. Obviously we have zero control over that."
