Jayawickrama gets one-year boycott for breaking against defilement code

The ICC has banned Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama from all cricket for one year, of which the last six months are suspended, after he admitted to breaching the global body's anti-corruption code. In August the ICC accused Jayawickrama of two breaks of the code. He has conceded to penetrating article 2.4.7, which connects with: "Hindering or deferring any examination that might be completed by the ACU [anti-debasement unit], including disguising, altering or annihilating any documentation or other data that might be applicable to that examination or potentially that might be proof or may prompt the disclosure of proof of degenerate lead under the Counter Defilement Code." The charges, as per an ICC discharge, connect with worldwide cricket and the Lanka Chief Association (LPL). Having made his worldwide presentation in a Test against Bangladesh in April 2021, Jayawickrama has played five Tests, five ODIs and five T20Is. His last appearance for Sri Lanka was in a T20I series at home against Australia in 2022. In LPL 2021, Jayawickrama was a piece of the Jaffna Rulers side that came out on top for its subsequent championship. He played one match that season, taking two wickets. In LPL 2024, he showed up for Dambulla Sixers.
