Washington Sundar ruled out of West Indies T20Is
Washington Sundar has been governed out of the Twenty20 series against West Indies. The Chennai-based Indian spinner, who arranged a global rebound in the new ODI series against West Indies after a long injury-constrained rest, will require half a month to recuperate, it is learned.
"Washington Sundar experienced a left hamstring muscle strain during handling in the third ODI," said a proclamation from BCCI. Kuldeep Yadav has been named as his substitution.
Washington should report at the NCA on Tuesday (February 15) and is set to burn through three weeks at the NCA.
The three Twenty20 Internationals against West Indies will begin in Kolkata on February 16.
Sundar left the Indian camp that is presently in Kolkata. The Indian group had a net meeting at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday (February 14) evening.
Sundar (22) is the third player to be out of the Twenty20 series against West Indies after bad habit skipper KL Rahul and all-rounder Axar Patel. While Rahul supported an upper left hamstring strain during handling in the second ODI (versus West Indies) on February 9, Axar has continued the last phase of his restoration after as of late recuperating from Covid-19, the BCCI said.
