In advance of the IPL 2025, Sridharan Sriram joins CSK as an assistant bowling coach

S Sriram, a former India all-rounder, has joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as their assistant bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2025. At CSK, Sriram joins a coaching contingent led by Stephen Fleming (head coach), Mike Hussey (batting coach), and Eric Simons (bowling consultant). Sriram has a lot of coaching experience at different levels. He effectively replaces Dwayne Bravo at CSK, with the latter having joined defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders as mentor. From 2016 to 2022, he served as Australia's assistant coach. He left that position to concentrate on his work with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In advance of the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup, Sriram was also appointed Bangladesh's T20 consultant in August 2022. In September 2023, he joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as assistant coach for IPL 2024, and also returned to Bangladesh - this time as technical consultant - before the ODI World Cup. Sriram has also worked as assistant coach at Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, and Noor Ahmad are CSK's frontline spinners for IPL 2025. Deepak Hooda and Rachin Ravindra are CSK's spin-bowling all-rounders. CSK missed qualifying for the playoffs last year as they finished fifth with seven wins and as many defeats in the 14 group matches. Although they were level on 14 points with fourth-placed RCB, CSK's inferior net run-rate meant they fell just short of making it to the final four. The defending champions of the IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will play RCB on March 22 in Kolkata. The following evening, CSK will play Mumbai Indians (MI) at home in their first match.
