How Abhishek Nayar influenced Rohit's resurgence
The influence of a man who was recently fired by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may lie behind Rohit Sharma's recent success. Before being reappointed by the Kolkata Knight Riders, Abhishek Nayar, the Indian team's assistant coach up until recently, had been quietly working with the India captain. Cricbuzz is aware that Rohit and Nayar have been working together for some time, and their relationship has continued throughout the IPL season. In fact, he was seen working with Nayar at the BKC facility of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) the day before Rohit's crucial 26 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 17 at the Wankhede Stadium. On Sunday, April 20, Rohit scored an unbeaten 76 against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede, a typically graceful but frantic performance. He had been off-color at the beginning of the season, scoring 0, 8, 13, 17, and 18, before improving his form with two strong innings in succession. Both Rohit and Nayar and people close to the MCA confirm that they have been working together both before and during the current IPL season. According to a previous report from Cricbuzz, Rohit intends to continue playing until the World Cup in 2027 and is working with Nayar to improve both his fitness and his batting. The BCCI released Nayar from the Indian team's support staff, led by Gautam Gambhir, as recently reported. In fact, T Dilip, the fielding coach, Soham Desai, the strength and conditioning trainer, and Arun Kanade, the masseur, have all been let go by the BCCI. Whether by chance or not, it is thought that all four of them are close to Rohit. The general perception is that Indian batters' subpar performance in the BGT series in Australia has been blamed on Nayar, who is well-known in Indian cricketing circles for his understanding of modern coaching techniques. Since then, Sitanshu Kotak has been appointed batting coach by the BCCI. Given that Nayar has joined a rival team, it is unknown whether the relationship between Rohit and Nayar will continue for the remainder of the IPL season. For the record, Mumbai Indians and Knight Riders have not been scheduled to play in a return-leg match, despite their previous encounter on March 31 in Mumbai. The knockout rounds may be their only chance to meet. In addition to Rohit, many current players, including Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, support Nayar's expertise. There is even talk that senior citizens are unhappy with Nayar's removal. In fact, whenever Rahul is not playing competitive cricket, he continues to work with Nayar in Mumbai. He gave the former Mumbai all-rounder a public shout-out after a strong performance. "A special thank you to Abhishek Nayar. After winning the match for Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam, Rahul said, "I've worked a lot with him ever since he's come into the Indian team." "We've talked for hours and hours about how I can improve my white ball game. We've spent a lot of time working together in Bombay, and I think I've found someplace that playing white-ball cricket is fun.
