Hazlewood hope to miss rest of India series with calf strain

Josh Hazlewood is probably going to miss the rest of the Test series against India in the wake of experiencing a calf strain during warm-ups on the fourth day in Brisbane meaning Scott Boland will be set to get back to the side for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. Hazlewood, who returned in this game in the wake of missing Adelaide with a side strain, was late entering the field toward the beginning of play on Tuesday, having invested energy chatting with lead trainer Andrew McDonald and physio Scratch Jones, then, at that point, looked toiled when he came into the assault, scarcely beating 131kph which incorporated a wide lengthy jump first ball that was removed by KL Rahul. During the beverages break which followed that over, Hazlewood was essential for an extensive discussion with Pat Cummins, Steven Smith and the physio before he strolled off the field. Cricket Australia at first said he had "calf mindfulness" and he went for checks which affirmed the seriousness of the injury. "He's really sad," Daniel Vettori, Australia's associate mentor, said. "Felt it toward the beginning of today in warm-ups, gave it a decent break, it's only lamentable for him to return, put such a lot of exertion after one more injury with the side strain, then, at that point, to get a calf strain here, especially in these conditions is truly hard on him." Brendan Doggett and Sean Abbott have been important for the crew in this series, when they were at first called up as cover in Adelaide after Hazlewood was precluded, and would almost certainly head the line of substitutions. Western Australia pair Spear Morris and Jhye Richardson are still from the get-go in their rebounds to red ball cricket and the homegrown season has now exchanged into BBL mode. Australia were attempting to compel triumph between continuous downpour postpones in Brisbane with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc placing in critical spells without any Hazlewood yet India's last-wicket stand between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Profound denied them the possibility upholding the follow on. Vettori affirmed that regardless of being a bowler down that choice would have been taken and, given the lighter responsibilities in Adelaide and customary downpour breaks, there was certainty that Starc and Cummins would have the option to deal with the overs. Hazlewood had gotten back to the side for this Test after a side strain managed him out of Adelaide. His most recent physical issue opens the entryway for Boland to get back to the side at the MCG, the scene where he guaranteed a wonderful 6 for 7 on debut against Britain in 2021-22. Cummins had hailed the potential for Boland to assume a further part in the series when he passed up a great opportunity in Brisbane. "[We told him] it's tied in with planning for the MCG since there's a decent opportunity we could require you," he said. "History recommends there's in every case some type of normal wearing down all through a Test series. Something to be thankful for [is], he's likely played a Test before in the series than he perhaps suspected. Showed that his standard's still really high. [It's] about attempting to set him up for the last two Test matches."
