New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper-batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2024 with injury. CSK have added England seamer Richard Gleeson to their squad as his replacement. Conway had experienced a crack in the joint of his left thumb during the second T20I against Australia in Auckland in February. He thusly went through a medical procedure and CSK were initially confident of having Conway back in May for the final part of the IPL, yet he has now been sidelined from the entire season. Conway was key to CSK coming out on top for the championship in IPL 2023, scoring 672 runs in 15 innings at a normal of 51.69 and strike pace of just shy of 140. 47 of those runs arrived in a downpour hit three-day T20 last against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, where Conway likewise won the Player-of-the-Match grant. Conway's physical issue authorized nonappearance leaves Aravelly Avanish, the India Under-19 wicketkeeper, as the main back-up to MS Dhoni at CSK. Gleeson's expansion could assist CSK with making up for the shortcoming that Mustafizur Rahman's nonappearance would make. The Bangladesh, left-arm seamer, who is at present CSK's most noteworthy wicket-taker, with ten strikes, has been allowed NOC by the BCB to play the IPL till May 1. Gleeson, 36, is a slowpoke, who showed up matured 27 at Northamptonshire. He then arose as Northamptonshire's second-most noteworthy wicket-taker in the T20 Impact in 2016, with 14 strikes in ten games at an economy pace of under six. Gleeson made his global presentation for Britain matured 34 out of 2022, when he excused Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Gasp inside his initial eight balls in a T20I at Edgbaston. He is set to call the ground home this mid year. Gleeson has never played in the IPL yet has had spells in the Hundred (Manchester Firsts), BPL (Rangpur Riders), BBL (Melbourne Rebels), SA20 (Durban's Super Monsters), and ILT20 (Bay Goliaths). Altogether, Gleeson has played 90 T20s up until this point, getting 101 wickets at an economy pace of 8.18.
