CPL 2022 to have women's edition alongside men's tournament

The 2022 version of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will include a ladies' competition with three groups seeking the debut release of the Women's CPL (WCPL) title, CWI reported on Monday (March 14). The three groups will be Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders and will be played during the men's competition which is planned between August 30 and September 30. "Expanding the open doors for West Indian ladies and young ladies to engage in cricket is one of CWI's essential needs, and we are glad that we have had the option to collaborate with CPL to additional the development designs that we had first disclosed in 2019 preceding the appearance of the Covid Pandemic. We are sure that all CPL ladies' games will be exceptionally aggressive and will add quality amusement to our fans in the district and all over the planet," said Ricky Skerritt, the CWI President. "The expansion of a ladies' occasion to the CPL is something that has been an aspiration for quite a while and we are extremely satisfied that it has turned into a reality," said Pete Russell, CPL's CEO.
