Courtney Walsh named consultant for Zimbabwe women

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has roped in former West Indies captain Courtney Walsh as consultant for the national women's side. Walsh's appointment comes as the side looks to qualify for the Women's T20 World Cup in September-October 2024. Walsh is right now with the crew in the UAE, where they will play the passing competition for the Ladies' T20 World Cup. The best two groups from the 10-group occasion, what begins on April 25, will fit the bill for the headliner in Bangladesh. Zimbabwe have never played at the Ladies' T20 World Cup previously. Walsh, who once held the record for the most Test wickets (519), will help lead trainer Walter Chawaguta. Between October 2020 and April 2023, Walsh was lead trainer of West Indies' ladies' group, and under his direction, they arrived at the semi-last of the Ladies' ODI World Cup in 2022. "We count ourselves lucky and special to have the option to get Courtney as a specialized expert for our mission at the ICC Ladies' T20 World Cup Qualifier in Abu Dhabi," ZC Overseeing Chief Givemore Makoni said. "He is one of the world's most noteworthy cricketers and we accept his involvement with the most elevated level of the ladies' down specifically will support our possibilities getting one of the two spots available for anyone at the super worldwide show-stopper later in the year." Zimbabwe are in Gathering B of the qualifier competition, close by Ireland, Netherlands, UAE and Vanuatu. Bunch A has Sri Lanka, Thailand, Scotland, Uganda and USA. The best two groups from each gathering will fit the bill for the semi-finals, after which the two finalists will meet on May 7. The two finalists will fit the bill for the Ladies' T20 World Cup independent of the aftereffect of the title conflict.
