Bangladesh are hopeful that premier fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will be fit in time for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka in June, contingent on his successful recovery. The month-long series, which includes multiple formats, will run from June 17 to July 16. Taskin, who was sidelined from the recent two-Test series against Zimbabwe, traveled to London to consult medical experts about his persistent Achilles tendon problem. He is also set to miss the Pakistan and UAE tour, which features seven T20Is. In London, Taskin underwent evaluations by an ankle surgeon, a sports doctor, and a physiotherapist. The consensus among the specialists was to proceed with a non-surgical approach to his condition for now. A structured rehab program has been designed and will be executed under the Bangladesh national team’s medical and support staff. “The doctors believe non-surgical treatment is currently the most suitable option. His rehab plan is carefully crafted to aid recovery and manage the issue efficiently. We're confident he’s on the right path,” said BCB’s senior physician Debashish Chowdhury, who accompanied Taskin on the trip. If all goes well, Taskin is expected to be match-ready by early June. Bangladesh are scheduled to land in Sri Lanka on June 13, with the tour beginning with a two-Test series starting June 17 in Galle.
